FISH Charity Sale
Sonning Common Village Hall was humming with life on 14th October when FISH held its annual Charity Sale. This is an important fund-raiser for FISH and various volunteers had worked hard to bring it together.
In addition to stalls run by FISH, six local and national charities were represented. The kitchen provided the ever-popular bacon butties to accompany tea and coffee, and outside the Hall was a display of produce and plants kindly donated.
The Tombola was kept busy, as was the raffle, with a range of prizes donated by our generous supporters. Mention should also be made of Peter Rickards' attractive turned wooden artefacts, which he generously donates for sale.
There was an excellent response to the sale by the local community, and for much of the time the Hall was crowded.
The culmination of the event was the Auction, run by our expert Auctioneer, Fred Nickson. Fred's powers of persuasion are legendary, and a very satisfactory sum was added to the takings.
Our thanks go to Christine Halliday for the loan of her garage for the storage of items kindly donated for sale.
We are pleased to report that the event made a very satisfactory £1,500 for FISH.
FISH volunteers are kept busy throughout the year working to help members of the community in various ways, and the service depends on donations. To this end, the Charity Sale is an important contributor, and thanks are due to all who helped to ensure its success.
